Formats & local limits
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS containers are read locally. The video codec must also be supported by your browser. H.264, VP8, VP9, AV1 and HEVC availability varies by device; each file is checked before extraction. AVI supports Motion JPEG (MJPEG) video only. Other AVI codecs and DRM-protected videos are not supported.
Up to 2 GB per file. No fixed duration limit. Videos with more than 2,000,000 source frames cannot be indexed. Each run stops at 2,000 images or 200 MB of encoded image data to protect browser memory. Long or high-resolution clips may need a shorter time range. Clear your frames before a new run. Mobile devices should start with smaller files.
Start is inclusive; end is exclusive. Interval and FPS modes select the original frame displayed at each requested time. A requested rate above the source rate may repeat frames. Every original frame mode decodes frames in presentation order, including variable-frame-rate video. Images retain the displayed source dimensions; PNG avoids additional image compression. HDR-to-canvas color rendering depends on your browser, so original HDR color fidelity is not guaranteed.
How do I get frames from video?
Choose a local video, pick a capture mode and press Extract frames. For a video screenshot, select Single frame and scrub to the moment you want. Each card shows the actual source timestamp.
Can I export a frame from video as JPG or PNG?
Yes. Select PNG for lossless image encoding, or JPG for smaller files. You can download one image or every extracted image as a ZIP. Video to JPG and video to PNG share this same tool.
Can I extract an image from a time range?
Set From and Until in seconds, then choose an interval, custom frame rate or Every original frame. To extract a single image from video, switch to Single frame.
Do my videos leave this device?
No. File reading, video decoding, image encoding and ZIP creation run in this browser. There are no upload requests, accounts or saved history. Closing the page clears the session. Only choose files you want to process.
What happens when I stop or reach a limit?
Completed frames stay available for download. The status tells you whether the run completed, was stopped, or reached a limit. A partial run is never labelled complete. To continue, use a shorter time range.
